Writer's Block: Use Your Power

  • Dec. 25th, 2008 at 1:58 PM

Our holiday gift to you: the question submitted most often to Writer's Block—if you could have a superpower, what would it be and how would you use it?

My super power would be to make everyone peaceful.  Essentially being able to make everyone get along which would mean no more violence, abuse or war.  Can you imagine it?!

Writer's Block: Legends of Rock

  • Dec. 7th, 2008 at 1:51 AM

There are a few concerts that go down in musical history—Altamont, Woodstock, Live Aid, the Hannah Montana Best of Both Worlds tour—as legendary experiences. What live show stands as legend in your own experience?

The first concert I ever attended.  I was 12 or 13 at the time.  It was the Beach Boys and Chicago together, back in the day when they were popular.  (yeah, I guess I'm showing my age).  I saw Joni Mitchell in concert on my 18th Birthday, that was pretty great too.  Then there was Crosby, Stills, Nash, & Young in New York City.  With Pete Seeger, Bonnie Raitte, Jackson Browne, etc... It was a free MUSE concert in Battery Park.  Over 100.000 people all peacefully gathered for one cause.  An amazing day.

What does online community mean to you?

  • Dec. 6th, 2008 at 4:38 PM

O.K., I haven't posted in ages but I do comment on other peoples posts a few times a week.  Does that count for anything?  If it's not your post or if you are not friends with the writer I commented on then I realize you may never see it.  I love reading other peoples fiction and various personal postings but I am so over my head with parenting and work that I can't find the time to create my own stuff.  It seems like there all these little communities, that people actually seem to know each other pretty well, how do you find the time?  How do you bridge the computer barrier?  What does online community mean to you?  As someone on the periphery I'd love to hear your perspective. Thanks! - GG

Christina Cox on SGA & True Blood

  • Sep. 7th, 2008 at 1:52 PM

Hey, did anyone see Christina Cox on Stargate Atlantis Friday night?  Boy did I perk up in my seat when I saw her on screen.  Not as good as Blood Ties of course but I'm happy to see her anywhere.  Especially on Sci Fi channel!  She was the Major Ann Teldy, leader of an SG unit of 4 women.  Not quite as kick ass as on Blood Ties but still strong and beautiful as usual.  I wonder if she is going to become a regular, they didn't kill her off and there were a few sparks flying between her and Sheppard.

Have you folks with HBO been watching Blood Copy and the True Blood featurettes on demand?  True Blood premieres tonight on HBO at 9:00pm and it's storyline includes a romance between a waitress and a vampire as well as the issue of vampires "coming out of the coffin" in America.  Looks like it should be very good.  Check out the featurettes on demand, one of them "Past and Present"  discusses the history of vampire movies, it was really good and mentioned a few I've never seen.  I even saw a brief clip of the woman who plays Beth on Moonlighting as a vampire.

enjoy! - GG

How do you remember?....

  • Feb. 25th, 2008 at 11:44 AM

O.K., help me out folks.  Excuse me if I sound stupid, call it a tired &  addled brain, but how do you keep track of all the fan fiction you are reading?  I read stories starting  from my friends page and with all the different people writing different stories that have different chapters, I can't keep always keep track of which stories I am reading and what chapter I am on.  How do you do it?  For example, what was the name of the story where Vicki was turned by another Vampire and Henry found her and was trying to get her out of her stupor?  I really liked reading it but lost track of it....

Hey all!  Have you found the Blood Ties game on the Lifetime site?  You can download the free demo version and play it for 60 minutes or spend $20.00 and download the full version.  I went ahead and bought it, anything to support our show!  Dennis McGrath implied it could help save the show so go get it!  Just don't give away anything if you get through the game quickly,, .it may take me awhile.

Happy Valentines Day!

  • Feb. 14th, 2008 at 8:20 AM

Happy Valentines Day to all my Blood Ties buddies!

To all of you who write fan fiction and create fan videos, THANK YOU!  It sure helps me through my BT withdrawls, to have some Henry and Vicki.  (It also helps my love life on occasion if ya' know what I mean.  After 9 years with the same lover, things can get a little routine.  I just close my eyes and remember one of those sizzling Henry stories, and well, things sure get a lot more exciting! ;-)

I hope y'all have some hot Henry dreams tonight.....

When was the last time you sang?

What Do You Have To Say? - I Spy...

  • Jan. 13th, 2008 at 1:16 PM

I spy with my little eye a picture of my partner, myself, his daughter and my daughter at a May Day celebration.  We are sitting on a blanket having a picnic in the grass, the girls have flower wreaths in their hair that they had just made.  My daughter was three years old then, she is now 12!  That picture was a time when my daughter was sweet, my relationship was new, and everything was exciting.  Now... well...my daughter is in middle school and giving me major attitude on a daily basis, my partner and I are both older and 20 pounds heavier and as B.B. King says "the thrill is gone, baby".  Ah well, it's not all champagne and roses forever I suppose....

Look around. Describe the first photograph you see. What does it mean to you?

Merry Christmas BT fan fiction writers!

  • Dec. 24th, 2007 at 1:39 AM

My teaching semester has ended and all the presents have been wrapped so I finally have some time to relax.  So tonight I drove around with my daughter looking at Christmas lights, baked some cookies, and read some BT fan fiction (by myself!).  It was a merry evening for me reading Henry and Vicki Christmas stories.  Applause and Kudos to you wonderful fan fiction writers, you know who you are, awesome!! I'm impressed with the talent and appreciate having these great stories to get me through the BT hiatus.  Thanks gals for the Christmas gifts!  Love and best wishes for a BT filled new year! - GG

o.k., I'm a Live Journal  Virgin.  Yikes, I feel about a million years old, or maybe I'm just tired from working 24/7.  I think this journal is going to proceed slowly as I get the hang of it all.  I'd love to connect with any musicians or Blood Ties fans, drop me a line if you write Blood Ties fan fiction or play the pennywhistle, these are my new obsessions. sweet dreams.
